Bayraw Factory Seconds

Good bags. Imperfect finish.

Every Bayraw bag is made to meet the same standard. Occasionally, during production, finishing or handling, a bag can pick up a mark or scuff that means it doesn't pass our final cosmetic QC check. If it's still new, unused and fully functional, we set it aside as a Factory Second and offer it for much less.

The Leather Tote - BAYRAW

What is a Factory Second?

A few marks. Still a perfectly good bag.

Factory Seconds aren't a cheaper version we make on purpose. They're standard Bayraw bags that haven't passed our cosmetic QC check because of a visible mark, scuff, scratch, crease or other imperfection. They're still new, unused and fully functional, so rather than sell them at the standard price, we set them aside and offer them for much less.

Didn't pass cosmetic QC

During production, finishing or handling, leather can sometimes pick up a scuff, scratch, dark mark, crease or other visible imperfection. If the finish isn't up to the standard we'd expect on a full-price Bayraw bag, we set it aside.

New and unused

These aren't customer returns or previously used bags. They're new Bayraw bags that were set aside because they didn't pass our final cosmetic QC check.

Works as it should

A Factory Second still has to work exactly as it should. If there's a missing popper, broken fitting or another functional fault, it doesn't qualify for this range and is dealt with separately.

Real examples

This is the kind of thing we're talking about.

These photos show genuine marks from bags that didn't pass our cosmetic QC check. Your Factory Second will have its own marks, and they may appear in different places.

Scuffs and dark marks

Dark marks, rubbing or scuffs that don't wipe or buff away.

Scratches and surface marks

Visible scratches, lines or handling marks in the leather.

Creases and finish variation

Heavier creasing, pressure marks or areas where the finish falls short of the standard we'd expect on our standard Tote.

Please only order if you're happy to receive a visibly imperfect bag. We can't promise a particular mark or location, and you won't receive the exact bag shown in these photos. Please assume the marks will be noticeable rather than hoping you'll receive an almost perfect one.

Our QC check

One standard. Every bag gets checked.

Every Bayraw bag starts with the same specification and the same standard to meet. We don't set out to make Factory Seconds. They're simply the bags we set aside when a cosmetic issue means they don't pass our final QC check.

Made to the same standard

Every bag starts with the same design, materials and specification. There isn't a cheaper Factory Second version being made alongside the standard one.

Passes our QC check

If the finish and functionality are as they should be, the bag is sold as our standard product at the standard price.

Doesn't pass cosmetic QC

If it's new and fully functional but has a visible cosmetic issue, we set it aside as a Factory Second and offer it for much less.

Has a functional fault

If there's a functional issue, such as missing hardware, it isn't a Factory Second. Those bags are kept separate and any fault is described specifically if we decide they're still suitable to sell.

Why we sell them

A scuff shouldn't write off a good bag.

We set a high bar for the condition of every Bayraw bag we sell at the standard price. If a bag picks up a mark during production, finishing or handling and doesn't pass our cosmetic QC check, we won't quietly send it out and hope you don't mind.

But if the issue is purely cosmetic and the bag is still new, unused and fully functional, writing it off doesn't make much sense either. Factory Seconds give us a better option: show you the sort of marks to expect, explain exactly what you're buying and offer the bag at a brilliant price.

That's what Bayraw Factory Seconds are for.

The important distinction

Natural leather character isn't the same as failing QC.

Natural leather will always vary a little in grain, tone and texture. That's part of the material, and you'll see some natural variation on every Bayraw bag.

A Factory Second has something beyond that normal character, such as a scuff, dark mark, scratch or heavier crease that means it hasn't passed our cosmetic QC check. We set it aside, show you the sort of condition to expect and charge much less.

This is the same Leather Tote in its design, materials and construction. It costs less for one reason: visible cosmetic marks meant it didn't pass the final QC check for our standard Tote.

Every Factory Second is different. Please look through the condition information and example photos on the product page before you order.

Before you order

A few things worth knowing.

Are Factory Seconds used?
No. They're new and unused. They've been set aside because they didn't pass our cosmetic QC check, not because they've been used by another customer.
Will I receive the exact bag shown in the photographs?
No. The photos show real examples from our Factory Second stock. Your bag will have its own combination of marks, and they can appear in different places.
Can I choose which marks my bag has?
No. We can't offer individual selection by scuff, scratch or mark. Please only order if you're comfortable receiving a visibly imperfect bag without choosing the exact marks.
Are Factory Seconds fully functional?
Yes. Cosmetic condition is the only reason these bags are sold here. They still have to work exactly as they should. Anything with a missing fitting or another functional fault is kept out of this range.
Can I return a Factory Second?
We sell Factory Seconds as final-sale items, so please don't order unless you're comfortable keeping a visibly imperfect bag. This doesn't affect any statutory rights that apply.

If you're hoping to get lucky with an almost perfect one, this isn't the right product.

The lower price is there because visible imperfections are part of the deal. If a scratch, scuff, dark mark or crease would bother you, choose the standard Tote instead.

Factory Seconds

Didn't pass our cosmetic QC. Still a great Tote.

If you're happy with visible marks, the Factory Second Tote gives you the same design and functionality for much less.
